The "Hidden Gems" of Epcot's World Showcase: Part Two

For the last few weeks, I've been sharing my favorite "hidden gems" of the Walt Disney World theme parks.  Consisting of out-of-the-way places, less well-known restaurants, and easy-to-miss details, these "gems" add to the magic of Disney World.

Epcot's World Showcase has so many "hidden gems" that I had to break my post into two parts (you can find Part One here).  Today, I'll share Part Two.

The Outpost - Located between the China and Germany Pavilions, this mini-pavilion is the perfect place to take a break. Let the kids play the drums and explore the crates (tell them to listen carefully--they may hear a secret), and enjoy a cold drink. The Outpost is also a great place for face painting (there's hardly EVER a line)!

Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus: Lots of people know about Cinderella's Royal Table at Magic Kingdom. But did you know that you can eat with the princesses at Epcot, too---for a much more reasonable pricetag?  Belle holds court at this restaurant in the Norway Pavilion (a photo with her is even included!), and several of her princess friends are always on hand to greet guests. The highlight of the meal comes when the princesses gather all of the children in the dining room for a royal procession through the restaurant!

The Model Train Set in the Germany Pavilion: Have a train-lover in your family? Then this next "hidden gem" of Epcot's World Showcase is for you. While you're at the Germany Pavilion, take some time to enjoy the incredibly-detailed miniature railroad. When my son was smaller, he could have spent hours staring at that thing. Bonus: engrossed kids = longer German beer break for Mommy and Daddy.

KidCot Spots: Designed for the preschool and grade school set, these stations at each pavilion keep younger kids engaged. At the first pavilion you stop at, your child will receive a craft to begin coloring. Then, at each subsequent pavilion, he or she can color a little more of it. PLUS, Cast Members in each pavilion will stamp the back of the craft and write a little message in their native language!! Best of all, KidCot Spots are completely free!!

La Cava del Tequila - Located inside the Mexico pavilion's pyramid (turn right when you enter), this little lounge serves over 70 different kinds of tequila and some of the best margaritas you'll ever have (the Blood Orange one is my favorite).  Definitely make an effort to pop in here--you won't regret it!!

Honorable Mentions

1. Boulangerie Patisserie in the France Pavilion

2. Serveur Amusant in the France Pavilion

3. Jeweled Dragon Acrobats in the China Pavilion
