The "Hidden Gems" of Epcot's World Showcase, Part One

Each of Disney World's theme parks contain dozens of "hidden gems": off-the-beaten path treasures that many guests pass by without noticing.  To learn more about the hidden gems of Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios, click on the links.

Today, we're moving on to Epcot, starting with World Showcase.  This place is SO full of hidden gems that it needs more than just one week to profile them all!  Today, I'll start with the first five gems.

Agent P Missions - Young Phineas & Ferb fans join Agent P and try to save "the World" from evil!  Sign up at various locations throughout World Showcase, get your F.O.N.E. device, and you're off!  It's a great way for kids to enjoy World Showcase (and to keep them occupied while parents do some exploring of their own!).  Trying to decide which of the missions to complete first?  Our favorites take place in United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.

Street Performers - World Showcase features talented street performances in almost every pavilion.  While they are all "hidden gems", I have a few favorites, one of which is Sergio the Juggler in the Italy Pavilion.  He is truly not-to-be-missed.  Engaging and entertaining, Sergio enlists audience members in each of his performances.  Check the Times Guide when you arrive to see when he will be performing on the day of your visit!

Restaurant Marrakesh - Located in the Morocco Pavilion, many guests bypass this place because of its out-of-the-way location.  Those who DO reserve a meal here are wowed by the stunning ambiance and unique menu.  Dinner guests are even treated to a spectacular belly dancing performance!!  Don't worry if you have picky eaters in your family; the children's menu offers some standard kid-friendly favorites like chicken tenders and hamburgers (along with some Moroccan-inspired fare for more adventurous diners).

Mitsukoshi Department Store - Hidden away in the Japan Pavilion, this sprawling store offers a variety of unique trinkets.  If you have a Pokemon lover in your family, you MUST plan to stop here.  Mitsukoshi is also where the famous Pick-a-Pearl station is located!

Grand Marnier & Grey Goose Orange Slush - In the France Pavilion.  Yum.  Enough said.

Check back next week for the last five hidden gems of Epcot's World Showcase, as well as some honorable mentions contributed by readers and clients!
