Man Arrested on Second Drunken-Driving Charge

A Rochester Police officer was on patrol Aug. 4 in the area of University and Taylor when an older model Jeep Cherokee passed by on westbound University with an unlit driver's side headlight, according to a police report.

The officer stopped the driver, a 21-year-old Rochester Hills man, and could detect the odor of alcohol from inside the vehicle, the report indicated. The driver told police he had recently left Main Street Billiards in downtown Rochester, where he had consumed two beers in about two hours.

The man failed a series of field sobriety tasks and was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and taken to the Rochester Police Department, where he registered a .12 percent BAC on a breath test, above the legal limit of .08 percent.
