Farid Fata's Patients Can Retrieve Seized Medical Files From FBI

While the U.S. Attorney's Office builds its federal case against Dr. Farid Fata, the cancer doctor accused of improperly administering chemotherapy and other treatments to patients as part of a Medicare billing fraud scheme, patients who need access to their medical records can receive copies of the files from the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office.

Pick-up sites for patient records are available in Ann Arbor, Bay City, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Macomb, Marquette, Oakland/Troy, St. Joseph and Traverse City. Alternate pick-up sites also can be arranged with FBI personnel.

Patients who had been seeing Fata up until his Aug. 6 arrest can retrieve a copy of their patient file by contacting Sandy Palazzolo, victim witness coordinator at the U.S. Attorney's Office, at (313) 226-9633.

For those seeking the file of another patient, including that of a deceased relative, requests can be directed via email to usamie.victimservices@usdoj.gov. Those without access to a computer also can contact Palazzolo at (313) 226-9933.

Those with additional information about treatment they, a relative or a friend received in Fata's practice also can email information to usamie.victimservices@usdoj.gov. Those without computer access can call Nicole McGee, victim specialist at the FBI, at (313) 496-4348.

Additional information provided by the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office has been included here in a downloadable and printable PDF document.
