Karla Dorweiler, Neighbor

I frequently tell my son (future pilot, at the moment) to do what he loves when he grows up.  I can speak from experience, because I've always done what I enjoy most—writing.  I wrote reams of poems and stories as a kid.  I edited my high school newspaper and wrote all through college, where I obtained my B.A. in Journalism from the University of Minnesota.  After college, I spent several years writing in the advertising world before having my children.  I was blessed to spend their early years at home with them, picking up freelance work for local magazines such as Oakland University Magazine and Cranbrook's Traditions.

I'm thrilled to be on board with Farmington Patch.  This is my community, too, and it's a great place to live.  I hope my writing captures Farmington's personality, and brings you the news and stories that keep you coming back for more.

When I&#39;m not writing, I&#39;m hanging out with my kids, playing Scrabble with my hubby, or digging out from a perpetual pile of laundry.<br><br>
