The correct name for this survey should be "favorite course" and not "best" course. You are comparing a 9 hole course, private course, championship semi-private, etc...in the same breath. I am a low handicap golfer and have played all of these. Nothing wrong with any of them, but it is silly to compare them. Golf is a great game because anyone at any level can play and enjoy it. And yes, Perry is…   more ›

Readers' Choice: Young's is Best Asian Food in Oakland County

Young's Chinese Food Carry Out in Royal Oak beat out nine other restaurants and carryouts, based on reviews and ratings.

Almond chicken is a customer favorite from Young's Chinese Food Carry Out in Royal Oak, but the broccoli chicken and chicken fried rice get some love, too, for Patch readers' favorite place to get Asian food in Oakland County. Nine five-star reviews earned Young's the top spot among 10 Chinese, Asian and sushi restaurants and carryouts in Oakland County, based on reviews and ratings by readers. "Been getting food here since it opened," Gay Thacker wrote in a review on Young's Patch business directory page. "Love it! Always consistently good food. My favorite is sesame chicken, egg rolls and hot & sour soup." Suzanne Fisher writes: "The only negative about Youngs is that they're not open 7 days a week to satisfy my cravings!" Indeed, Young'…

Vote Now: What's the Best Chinese or Asian Food in Oakland County?

Readers from 10 Patch communities voted last week on their favorite Chinese, sushi or Asian restaurant. Now those winners vie for the Oakland County Readers' Choice crown.

We're going to mix it up a little though: Instead of just voting, we're going to ask readers to rate and review their favorite spot. We'll use the ratings, reviews and comments below this story to determine the winner, after voting closes at 9 a.m. Friday. Here's the list of last week's winners and a bit about them. Bar Louie Is Best Sports Bar in Rochester Hills — and the Patio is Open

It's the winner of our Readers' Choice poll this week.

The best sports bar in Rochester Hills isn't your ordinary sports bar. According to managers of Bar Louie, the Rochester Hills dining establishment is more like your neighborhood bar and grill — with a lot of TVs. "We have a great ambiance, a great atmosphere," manager Eric Rimpela said. "We have something to offer everybody." Readers of Rochester Patch voted Bar Louie the town's best sports bar in Patch's weekly Readers' Choice poll. Bar Louie has 20 TVs and 100 beers on tap. Tuesdays are $1 burger night. The bar opened in the fall in the location of the former Shield's Pizza on the corner of Rochester and Tienken roads. In her December column, Around Town columnist Laura Cassar called the bar her "trifecta to perfecta," applauding its …

Readers' Choice: O'Connor's the Best Spot to Spend St. Patrick's Day in Town

To say thanks, the Irish pub in Rochester is giving away VIP passes to its annual bash.

The downtown Irish pub with a reputation for being the place to party on March 17 has been named Best Place to Spend St. Patrick's Day in Rochester. On Friday, workers at O'Connor's Public House were busy constructing a beer tent that will add to the festivities on Saturday. Executive chef Michael Keyes said the restaurant has 200 barrels of beer and 1,000 pounds of corned beef ready to serve starting at 7 a.m. Saturday. "We want people to know that although it's a party, people will be kept in check," Keyes said. The bar has 47 security guards on deck to patrol the all-day bash. There's a $10 cover charge for the day. To thank Rochester Patch readers for voting, Keyes has offered two VIP passes for the day. The passes include free …
