Here's how KidzKare, a division of the area's oldest pediatrics practice, is redefining children's healthcare in the Rochester area.
The roots of Kidz1st Pediatrics run deep in Rochester Hills. And starting this spring, those roots will literally start to spread throughout the city. Jay Mitchell, Silvia Operti-Considine and the rest of the doctors and staff at Kidz1st, the Rochester area's first pediatrics practice, are hard at work planning a communitywide organic gardening project that will help support their mission: to help the struggling families of the Rochester area. Called "Raising Rochester," the project will install potentially hundreds of raised bed organic gardens in May at various locations across Rochester and Rochester Hills. It's called "Pathway to Self-Sustainability" and an introductory meeting will be held this week across from Oakland University.
Members of the Rochester community are invited to become a part of the solution to poverty in Oakland County. An interfaith, collaborative effort called Pathway to Self-Sustainability is under way in the county. An introductory meeting is planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish, 3665 Walton Boulevard, in Auburn Hills across from Oakland University. A light dinner will be served; presentations begin at 7 p.m. and the meeting will end at 8:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend the meeting or join the effort.
