From the Village of Rochester Hills website, a store-by-store look at what's on special.

Who Should Light the Village? Tell Patch and Help Make It Happen

The Village of Rochester Hills will be all aglow on Friday night; who should flip the switch?

It takes a special someone - or group of someones - to turn on 850,000 lights.  That's what's happening Friday night at the annual lighting of the Village of Rochester Hills. The event will feature a parade, music, a toy drive and, of course, Santa. It's a tradition in the city of Rochester Hills, and Rochester Patch wants to help the city and the Village find the perfect special guest to join in the excitement. Patch wants to know: Who should light the Village of Rochester Hills, and why? Post a comment here and make a suggestion. Maybe it's a family that helps out in the community; maybe it's a school club or sports team that's had an amazing year. Or, it could be an individual who has an amazing story to tell. Think about that perfect …

Tell the Girlfriends: Another Boutique Open at The Village of Rochester Hills

Everything at Apricot Lane is 20 percent off to celebrate the grand opening.

Apricot Lane, a boutique described as a "mom and daughter" destination, opened its first Michigan store on Thursday morning at The Village of Rochester Hills. The shop carries fashion and accessories you won't see anywhere else, said owner Jennifer Braner of Fort Wayne, who grew up in Ortonville and picked Rochester Hills for its first Michigan destination because of the trend factor.  "We try to be fashion-forward and trendy, and when we were looking around at where to open in Michigan, we knew this was the place," Braner said. "We only carry five or six of any particular piece, so when it's gone, it's gone. This is a great place for moms and daughters to shop together, because we have things for 16-year-olds up to 65-year-olds." …

I've pondered this question for as long as I've lived in Rochester... I've seen many stores (especially in The Village) come in and go out of business before I even had the chance to go inside! Parisian needs a definite facelift! Every time I enter, I feel like I'm walking into TJ Max! I spend a lot of time in the Chicago area where Carson Prairie Scotts are prevalent (a sister store to Parisian…   more ›

Call The Girlfriends: Newest Village Store Has Something for All Hot Mamas

If the streets of Rochester Hills seem strangely light on the minivans this week, it's probably because they're all parked at The Village, where Hot Mama opened Wednesday.

There was such a crowd at Hot Mama on Wednesday (the day it opened its first Michigan store at The Village of Rochester Hills) it was hard for me to believe there was anyone left to tell about it.  The place was packed with mamas, strollers and kids. In fact, if you closed your eyes it kind of had the buzz of a very successful play date, complete with animal crackers. The right toys — Play Station 3 and Legos — were there to keep the junior shoppers happy and entertained. And the right clothes — trendy, fun but right for all moms — were there to make a shopping mama feel like she died and went to fashion heaven. Oh, yes, and it's all at 10 percent off for opening week! Let's face it, ladies, somewhere between ages 20 and 40, in a place …

I love the Village! When I was a teenager, they were the first shopping center around that had a Hollister, and as I got older and my style changed, they were the only center nearby to have a Parisian! Plus, you can't beat the holiday lights and the warm glow in the air.   more ›

Boutiques Replacing Abercrombie Stores at Village of Rochester Hills

Here's a look at more changes ahead for the outdoor shopping center.

Two stores that traditionally catered to teenagers at the Village of Rochester Hills are being replaced with two trendy boutiques that will attempt to attract their older sisters — and moms. Abercrombie & Fitch and abercrombie closed last month. Hot Mama and Apricot Lane, two rapidly expanding shops that feature trendy and designer clothing and accessories for women, will open in their spots this spring. The changes are part of the outdoor shopping area's focus in this, its 10th year, on moms. "It's our 10-year anniversary, and we are looking for new and exciting things to bring into the Village," said Shelleen McHale, the Village's marketing director. "We really have been looking at who our consumer is, and we found they are moms and …

I wouldn't be suprised if the closing of Abercrombie and Fitch isn't related to a public backlash for their exploiting teen models in their advertising.   more ›

Future Village Boutique Is For All of You Rochester Hot Mamas

The Minnesota-based store will open its first Detroit-area location this spring at the Village of Rochester Hills.

Hey, Rochester moms: your spring wardrobe shopping just got a lot more fun! The Village of Rochester Hills announced that Hot Mama will be opening this spring. This upscale boutique targets contemporary moms with designer clothes to fit their age and lifestyles. Or, put more simply, it's hot clothes for hot moms.  According to a Village executive, store founders Megan and Michael Tamte were attracted to the location with its surrounding demographic of fashion-forward moms. “The Hot Mama team is making smart real estate decisions across the country," said Scott Aikens, vice president of leasing at the Village, in a news release. “It’s a great sign for the state that they’ve chosen to expand into metro Detroit. "We’re honored that they’ve …

i like the idea of a store that offers the type of clothes for the women and lifestyle you describe, however i hate the name. i'd just like to see something other than the rochester mommy yoga pants look, too. however, our current obsession with "hot mamas" is absolutely ridiculous. why are moms expected to be good moms and look "hot", in our current sense of the word, all the time? if the store …   more ›

Chipotle Open for Burrito Business at Village of Rochester Hills

It's the third restaurant to open at the outdoor mall this fall, following Hepburn's Crepes and Flat Top Grill.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, a restaurant known for its naturally raised meats and enormous burritos, opened Thursday for business in the Village of Rochester Hills. It takes the space formerly occupied by Cosi, which closed in August. This is the second Rochester Hills location for Chipotle, a Colorado-based franchise that puts an emphasis on environmentally friendly practices and natural foods. Chipotle hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. A menu is attached to this story.
