Where is Taco Bell?

Good question. It was scheduled to open near Livernois and Walton by now; here's why it hasn't been started yet.

"As luck would have it they discovered bad soils when they did their testing," said Ed Anzek, director of planning and economic development for the city. The soils in question are basically marl, which are peat and boggy-type soils that aren't suitable for typical construction, Anzek said.  "These soils are fine for a parking lot but not the loads of a structure," he said.  So the owners are redesigning the strutural elements of the building, which set them back two to three months.  "They have advised us they will use the late fall and wintertime to redesign and then process building permits with the city," Anzek…

Taco Bell Approved at Walton and Livernois

It will be built this year near the Mobil gas station.

Taco Bell will …

Second Rochester Hills Taco Bell Looks to Take Over Walton Parking Lot

The fast-food restaurant would be a short walk from Rochester High School.

Your late-night Chalupa cravings are about to be fulfilled, Rochester. Taco Bell is looking to build a second Rochester Hills location, near the Mobil gas station on the corner of Walton Boulevard and Livernois Road. The site is an empty parking lot that's less than a five-minute walk from Rochester High School, near Panera Bread. There are 5,600 Taco Bell restaurants worldwide; the chain started in 1964 in California. The nearest Taco Bells to this proposed location are on Rochester Road near Target in Rochester Hills and on Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills. The fast food restaurant has submitted a site plan to the Rochester Hills Planning Commission, which reviewed it at a meeting earlier this month. According to city Planning and Economic …

Ugh, that would be a mess of a location. I agree that there needs to be a taco bell in that vicinity having lived and worked in the area for 3 years it was always a total pain to get to a taco bell from downtown rochester but there are many more suitable locations. What about Rochester Rd and Teinken? Or even across the street from where they are planning near the buffalo wild wings? It just …   more ›
