Local Light Show Wins $10,000 Prize in National Contest

The "Our Dancing Lights" show was named the best display of Clark-Griswold-style spirit; here's what the show's creator has to say about that.

When Brent Waldrep set out to wrap his house in 47,000 lights, all set to flash in time to holiday music, he wasn't seeking fame or fortune.  But he admits $10,000 and the first-place title in a national competition doesn't hurt his big picture. Waldrep is the creator of Our Dancing Lights, the music-and-light spectacular that has attracted thousands of visitors each Christmas season for the past six years. The show is located at his home on Paramount Lane, across the border of Rochester Hills in Auburn Hills. 'Our Dancing Lights' a Finalist in Griswold Lightacular Challenge

The grand prize is $10,000, which would go a long way in helping the light show that benefits The Rainbow Connection in Rochester. Here's how to vote.

The "Our Dancing Lights" show is one of 20 finalists in a contest fit for a Christmas Vacation. The "Griswold Lightacular" contest is sponsored by Old Navy. The grand prize is the Clark Griswold Award. According to the contest page online: "Win a grand prize of $10,000 for the most over-the-top light display – enough for a year's worth of electricity bills! If your display runs the risk of causing sunburns, you're on the right track." Voting began Sunday and ends Dec. 22; you can vote once a day. Cast your vote at http://OurDancingLights.com/vote.
