Man Kicks Patrol Car, Punches Sheriff's Deputy in Rochester Hills

The incident happened at a group home in the city on Wednesday.

A 21-year-old Rochester Hills man was arrested Wednesday after he caused a disturbance at a local group home and then punched an Oakland County Sheriff's deputy in the eye. The incident happened in the 3000 block of Midvale when deputies responded to a report of a resident who was uncooperative with staff members at the home, according to a report from the sheriff's office. Deputies escorted the man to their patrol vehicle; he then became "assaultive" toward deputies, kicking the patrol vehicle and punching a deputy in the left eye, causing injury, the report stated. The man was lodged in the Oakland County Jail. The deputy was treated and released for his injuries.

Man Takes $1,000 in Cash From Rochester Hills Bar

The bartender was counting money in his register when he was approached by a man who demanded the cash.

A bartender told police he was counting the cash in his register at a Rochester Hills restaurant early Monday morning when a man approached him and stole more than $1,000 in cash. According to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred just after midnight at Tapper's Bar & Grill on Auburn Road.  The bartender told sheriff's deputies the man approached him with his hand in his pocket and said he wanted the money, the report stated. The bartender, fearing the man had a gun in his pocket, stepped back; the man picked up the money and fled the bar on foot, the report stated. Man, on Phone With Wife, Collapses in Rochester Hills Parking Lot and Later Dies

He told his wife he was having chest pains, according to a police report.

A 65-year-old northern Michigan resident was found unconscious in a Rochester Road parking lot on Thursday night. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The man had been talking to his wife on the phone and told her he was having chest pains, according to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, who responded to the scene at 8:46 p.m. near Hamlin and Rochester roads.  He was unresponsive and not breathing when the sheriff's office arrived, the report stated. The Rochester Hills Fire Department transported the man to Beaumont Hospital in Troy, where he was pronounced dead, according to the report. The man was a resident of Alden in northern Michigan.

Florida Fugitive Found Working in Rochester Hills

He was on probation for cocaine possession, police say.

A fugitive from Florida was arrested Friday night while at work in Rochester Hills.   Jeffrey Paul Michaux, 43, is in the Oakland County Jail awaiting extradition to Pinellas County in Florida, according to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Michaux was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Friday at his place of employment in the 800 block of East Auburn Road, the report stated. He was arrested in October 2010 for possession of cocaine, according to a police report from Pinellas County, near Clearwater.

Woman Called 'Traveling Sex Predator' After Assault on Rochester Hills Girl

Police say 22-year-old Baltimore woman traveled to Michigan on Thanksgiving weekend and met up with 15-year-old girl she met online.

A 22-year-old Maryland woman who investigators say flew to Michigan last Thanksgiving and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old Rochester Hills girl she met online has been located, arrested and bound over to Oakland County Circuit Court for trial. According to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, whose Computer Crimes Unit has been investigating the incident since January, Roseanne Valesco Balagot is being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $75,000 bond. She was charged with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree and waived a pretrial hearing. Investigators say Balagot, a citizen of the Philippines who lives in Essex, Baltimore, traveled to Michigan over the Thanksgiving holiday, picked up the 15-year-old victim, took her …

Home Invasion, Jewelry Theft Reported in Rochester Hills

Someone broke into a Clemens Circle home through a bedroom window, police say.

A Clemens Circle resident told police someone broke into his home through a bedroom window on Wednesday and stole $4,500 in jewelry from a lock box. According to a report filed with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 46-year-old victim found his bedroom window open and the lock box tampered with. Nothing else in the home had been disturbed, and there were no marks on the window or on the box that indicated forced entry, the report stated.  The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Clemens, near Dequindre Road and M-59 in Rochester Hills.

Intoxicated Pedestrian Struck by Car in Rochester Hills

A Rochester Hills man was struck by the car after he was walking intoxicated and ran into the roadway near the Walton-Brewster intersection Tuesday.

A 38-year-old Rochester Hills man was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Walton and Brewster early Tuesday morning — a day after he was found walking on M-59 while intoxicated, police say. According to an Oakland County Sheriff's Office report, the man "ran into the roadway" near the Walton-Brewster intersection and was struck by a vehicle around 3:15 a.m. The driver of the vehicle reported the incident to sheriff's deputies, who learned that the man made his way to the Rochester Hills Fire Department to get treated for his injuries. Firefighters transported the man to Crittenton Hospital Medical Center. He is being charged with scamming customers in Rochester Hills out of thousands of dollars.

A 36-year-old Macomb Township man who police say posed as a phone, TV and internet salesman in Rochester Hills was charged Thursday with scamming people out of thousands of dollars. According to Oakland County Sheriff's Detective Ray White, Nameer Elias was arrested on Tuesday in the city. White said Elias approached several people in the city and offered them the services for one year for $1,000. He was not employed by any company that provided the services, White said. After collecting the money, Elias sometimes arranged for the service — and even paid the customer's bill for one or two months to avoid or delay suspician, White said. Man Walking With Steak Knife Accused of Confronting Motorist in Rochester Hills

The 27-year-old pedestrian said he took the knife from a local bar before the Tuesday morning incident.

A man wielding a steak knife that he admitted to taking from a local bar was arrested for attempting to assault a motorist in Rochester Hills early Tuesday morning. According to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a felonious assault near Avon Road and Rochester Road at 2:45 a.m. A man told deputies a pedestrian "flipped him off" and may have thrown something at his vehicle as he was passing by. Boy Called 'One-Man Crime Wave' After Admitting to 60 Car Break-Ins

The 16-year-old was caught Saturday morning in Rochester Hills while driving in a truck that he had stolen for the third time.

OUTSIDE DETROIT, MI -- Police in Rochester Hills say they took into custody over the weekend the person responsible for breaking into more than 60 cars in the Rochester area since February.  And as they work to identify many of the recovered GPS units, iPods and other stolen items—and while they further investigate the case—the accused has been released to his parents.
