3 Break-Ins Reported in Rochester Hills

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies respond to 3 alarms in Rochester Hills, find smashed windows.

Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies responded late May 9 to an alarm at the 2100 block of Crooks Road, according to an incident report.  According to the report, deputies also responded to alarms at the 1900 block of Rochester Industrial and the 2000 block of John R. and found windows at all three locations had been smashed out to gain entry inside. Deputies dispatched a police dog to try to track the responsible person, bu the track ended where the suspect appeared to have gotten into a vehicle, the report indicated.  According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the investigation is ongoing.

Crews Extinguish Tractor Fire in Rochester Hills

8 tractors involved in Sunday fire.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched Sunday to the 90 block of W. Auburn Road in Rochester Hills for a report of a fire behind a building, according to an incident report. According to the report, deputies discovered eight tractors on fire inside a fenced area behind the business, which was closed. Rochester Hills fire crews put out the fire and a Sheriff's fire investigator was called to the scene. The fire remains under investigation and no injuries were reported.

Marijuana, Cash Recovered From Vehicle in Rochester Hills

2 arrested after police find marijuana, scales and packaging materials.

The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded Tuesday to the 1400 block of Sylvan Circle for a report of a suspicious vehicle, according to an incident report. Deputies made contact with two men inside the vehicle where they detected the scene of marijuana, the report indicated. According to the report, neither person had identification and the two occupants were removed from the vehicle.  Deputies recovered a large amount of marijuana, packaging material, scales, a computer, ledger and cash from inside the vehicle, the report indicated. Patterson Appoints Rochester Hills Man to Public Services Department

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has appointed Capt. Mark Newman as director of the Public Services department. Newman, commander of the Investigative and Forensic Services Division at the Oakland County Sheriff, will oversee the county’s Animal Control Division, Circuit Court Probation Division, Community Corrections Division, the Medical Examiner's Office, Michigan State University Cooperative Extension, and Veterans' Services Division. He begins his new role May 13. “Mark has had a distinguished career in law enforcement,” Patterson said. “His wealth of command experience will enable him to be an effective leader for the six divisions of the Public Services Department.” Newman said now is a great time to make this transition…

2 Arrested in Robbery of Money Courier at Rochester Hills McDonald's

Employee, accomplice arrested in connection with Jan. 7 robbery of a money courier outside a McDonald's on Rochester Road.

The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.  Detectives from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Hills Sub-Station, reported Tuesday they have arrested two men suspected of robbing a money courier at the McDonald’s restaurant at 808 Rochester Road in Rochester Hills in January, according to Oakland County Sheriff's Office officials. At about 12:50 p.m. on Jan. 7, a man reportedly ran into a money courier for the Clarkston State Bank, knocking him to the ground causing the money bags to fall to the ground. Another Sheriff's Deputy Injured in Accident in Rochester Hills

The deputy was treated and released after incident on Tienken Road.

A deputy from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office was injured Wednesday night when a car pulled out of a Tienken Road driveway into his patrol car. According to a report from the sheriff's office, the deputy was treated for a minor injury at an area medical clinic and released. It was the second injury to a sheriff's deputy this week in Rochester Hills. On Monday, a deputy was injured when his car was rear-ended on Rochester Road.  Wednesday's incident happened at 8:17 p.m. as the deputy was traveling east on Tienken Road approaching Rochester Road. The driver of the car that hit the deputy was not injured and was cited for failing to yield to the right-of-way.

Man Found Dead in Parking Lot of Rochester Hills Gym

The death was ruled a suicide by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

A 37-year-old Auburn Hills man was found dead inside an SUV parked at a Rochester Hills gym on Wednesday night, according to police reports. The death was a suicide, according to a report released Saturday night by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies found a hose running from the exhaust pipe of the man's sport utility vehicle to the interior of the vehicle, the report stated. The incident was reported at 6:05 p.m. at Lifetime Fitness on Avon Road. The man had been reported missing from Auburn Hills at 3 p.m., the report stated.

Deputies Use Taser on Agitated Rochester Hills Man

The man appeared to be intoxicated when he tried to kick and punch deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office used a Taser on a man who pushed and tried to kick the deputies, who were called to his Rochester Hills home. The incident happened at 5:45 p.m. Monday in the 70 block of Mirabeau in the Rochester Estates mobile home park. According to a report from the sheriff's office, family members of the 35-year-old man called for police help when the man locked himself in the bedroom and refused to come out. When deputies arrived on the scene, the man came out of the bedroom and was "very agitated and verbally abusive toward the deputies," the report stated. Man Arrested for Weekend Robbery at Rochester Hills Meijer

John Schaff Carter, 33, remains jailed following his arrest.

A Madison Heights man has been arrested and charged with theft and assault following an incident Saturday at a Rochester Hills Meijer store. John Schaff Carter, 33, was arrested Sunday. He was charged with one count of Robbery-Unarmed and remains in the Oakland County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Carter is accused of stealing $1,200 in merchandise from the Rochester Road store and then attacking a store employee with pepper spray after being confronted about the theft, police say. Thieves Attack Rochester Hills Meijer Employee with Pepper Spray, Police Say

They were trying to steal $1,200 in items from the store, according to sheriff's deputies.

Two men walked out of a Rochester Hills Meijer store without paying for $1,200 in merchandise — and then attacked a store employee with pepper spray after being confronted about the theft, police say. The incident happened at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rochester Road Meijer store. According to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the men, both in their 30s, were stopped by a store loss prevention officer after exiting the store with the items. They agreed to re-enter Meijer with the agent, and in the entryway one man sprayed the agent in the face with pepper spray, the report stated.
