The following news and photos were provided by Cass Community Social Services. The tradition of families helping families continued on Sunday, Dec. 2 as Cass Community Social Services hosted its 6th Annual Christmas Parade Breakfast at the Royal Park Hotel. In the end, $21,000 in proceeds from the breakfast will benefit programs for homeless mothers and their children in Detroit. In addition, the funds raised will be used as a match for a $10,000 grant from the Department of Environmental Quality to research and develop Green Industry jobs for youth in Detroit. Here's a Monday morning recap of the Hometown Christmas Parade in Rochester.
You most likely know this by now: there was a parade Sunday in downtown Rochester. More than 100 floats, bands, businesses, town dignitaries and school groups marched and rode through Rochester Hills and Rochester during the 90-minute afternoon parade. The 61st Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade will travel through the streets of Rochester Hills and Rochester on Sunday afternoon. The parade begins at 2 p.m. at the corner of Tienken and Rochester roads in Rochester Hills. It travels south on Main Street into downtown Rochester to Third Street, where it then travels west and finishes up behind Main Street. A free shuttle will pick up parade-goers at Chase Bank on Walton Boulevard (at Livernois Road) and drop them off at Chase Bank downtown (at Pine and Fourth streets).
