Looking for tickets to the World Series? Watch ticket trends before buying.
Tigers mania has reached a fever pitch in Metro Detroit as the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants do battle in the World Series. Fans eager to be a part of the live action, however, might have to dip deep into their savings when buying tickets. According to Crain's Detroit Business, the average ticket price for Games 3, 4 and 5 at Comerica Park are about $730. But, Crain's reports, the prices have plummeted in the past week and a half: On ticket reseller StubHub.com, the cheapest tickets during the homestand are $375 for a single standing-room-only spot for Game 3 or Game 5. Those looking to be able to sit down during the game, however, will have to pay upwards of $400 for bleacher seats, or $500 for reserved seats. On Craigslist, …
The first pitch of the World Series is just hours away and one Patch editor shares his thoughts on why the Tigers will win the Fall Classic. Tell us in the comments: Why do you think they will win?
The Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants - two of the most storied teams in Major League Baseball - will take the field Wednesday night at 8:07 p.m. at AT&T Park for Game 1 of the World Series. While the teams are pretty evenly matched, there are some intangibles and notable qualities of the team, city and state which make the Tigers favorites in the World Series. (At least in my opinion.) Here is why Detroit will win: When you combine these ingredients and add a pinch of desire to avenge last year's American League Championship series loss to the Texas Rangers, you can see the Tigers are a hungry bunch. Just ask the Yankees, who were swept in four straight games during this year's ALCS. When they win, Tigers fans will celebrate …

The Tigers last played in the World Series in 2006 and took the title in 1984.
The Detroit Tigers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 2006, seeking their first championship since 1984. The Tigers swept the New York Yankees on Thursday in a 8-1 Game 4 win in the teams' best-of-seven American League Championship Series to advance to the World Series. Game 4 originally was scheduled for Wednesday night, but threats of inclement weather postponed the start time until 4:07 p.m. Thursday. The World Series begins Oct. 24 in a best-of-seven series against the winner of the National League Championship Series, currently under way between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. The National League team will have home-field advantage in the series because the American League lost the 2012 MLB All…

And Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett encourages community to show their Tigers pride.
It worked once. Last week former Tigers pitcher and North Hill teacher Andrew Good led his class in a rousing version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." (See "Former Tigers Pitcher Leads Rochester Kids in a Singalong") And to give credit where credit is due, the Tigers won both games played after the song. Now it's the Rochester Hills Fire Department's turn to root on the home team. The firefighters got an assist from a visiting RARA preschool class, an adorable pup looking for his forever home and Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett. Check out the video and feel free to sing along. Miguel Cabrera is Barnett's Tiger and on game days Barnett dons his Cabrera T-shirt to watch. Does it bring the Tigers luck? Maybe. But whether a shirt is …

North Hill teacher Andrew Good roots on the Detroit Tigers with a little help from his class.
Andrew Good knows a bit about standing on the mound under the bright lights of The Big Show. The North Hill Elementary fifth grade teacher pitched for parts of three season in the major leagues, including two games with the Tigers in 2005. He appeared in 35 major-league games, most of them with the Arizona Diamondbacks. (Read From Pop-Ups to Pop Quizes: Detroit Tiger Comes Home To Teach in Rochester Good also knows the power of a strong fan base. "There's a reason they call it 'home field advantage,'" Good said. "Those cheers give you extra energy, extra incentive to do your best." So when his home team and former team the Detroit Tigers beat the Oakland A's Thursday night to advance to the ALCS, Good knew just what to do— and fortunately …

Everyone knows the star players, but the baseball world is now getting a glimpse of those other Tigers whose contributions continue to make a difference this season.
Anybody paying attention to these Detroit Tigers knows ace Justin Verlander and Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera are again having MVP-caliber seasons. But every successful baseball team can't just rely on the best players on the roster. Seasons are often defined and cemented when the "other" guys step up when called upon at the right spot at the right time. Several unheralded players had key roles in last year's success, and Patch readers narrowly chose utilityman Ramon Santiago over super-sub Don Kelly in our 2011 unsung hero poll. Given their diminished roles on this year's team, we didn't expect to see either of those names on this list, but Kelly's late-game heroics Sunday have him back in the running. Or, are you more impressed by …

Patch asks Tigers expert and Fox Sports Detroit baseball announcer Mario Impemba to weigh in on the team's rocky regular season and its playoff quest.
The roar of Detroit Tigers fans will be heard throughout Metro Detroit this weekend as the team enters the American League Division Series against the Oakland A's. As Fox Sports Detroit's voice for the Detroit Tigers, baseball announcer Mario Impemba has been with the team since the first pitch of the regular season. Patch reached out to the Macomb Township resident and ultimate Tigers fan to get his take on the team's rather rocky season, Miguel Cabrera's Triple Crown and the spirit of fans who are holding their breath and crossing their fingers for a World Series appearance. Patch: How does this season compare to last season? Impemba: Last season the Tigers took control of the division much earlier. This year the race went to the final…
