Downtown Development Authority launches Downtown Streetscape Sponsorship Program.
The Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is offering the opportunity to “own” a piece of downtown through its new Downtown Streetscape Sponsorship Program, according to DDA Executive Director Kristi Trevarrow. Items available include street benches ($1,000), corner gardens at all intersections ($1,500), trees ($2,000) and corner planters with four-season plantings ($500), according to Trevarrow. All sponsorships are total amounts are for five-year term, with the exception of the trees, which are forever. Each sponsorship includes a commemorative plaque with a dedication of the donor's choice, Trevarrow said. “The Main Street Makeover resulted in a beautiful new streetscape that enhances the downtown experience,” Trevarrow said…
Electricians are more than halfway through prepping Rochester for the holiday's Big, Bright Light Show.
While area families were preparing for passing out candy and taking their children trick-or-treating Monday, electricians from J. Ranck Electric were preparing downtown Rochester for the Christmas season. For the sixth year in a row, downtown Rochester will host a fabulous display of lights — 1.5 million LED lights, to be exact — ranging from purples to oranges, greens, blues, reds and more. Kristi Trevarrow, executive director for the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA), noted that the crew started the first week of October and has until Thanksgiving to get the job done.
