Christmas Tree Farm Business Offers Big Benefit to Owners

Small Business Saturday was a busy day at the Addison-Oaks Christmas Tree Farm.

When you think of small businesses, the first thing that comes to mind usually isn't 20 acres of pines and spruces begging for you to chop them down and take them home. Frank Rimi planted the first Christmas trees in his backyard at what is now known as the Addison-Oaks Christmas Tree Farm in 1988.  If Small Business Saturday was around back then, it would have just turned legal drinking age. Frank's wife, Cathy, and three sons have helped maintain the family business and witnessed it grow. “I like this kind of farming because it’s not dirty, other than the sap you get on your hands, and I get to work closely with the customers,” Rimi said. The farm on Lake George Road in Oakland Township is open on weekends from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for families…

Yes, the Rochester Area Neighborhood House is a wonderful choice! They have an online giving tree that is simple to use. Many local children need warm clothing and gifts this holiday. I agree with Michele about striving to give all year long. Snow in Forecast, More Signs of the Season in Rochester

Seriously? Snow? Well, it's not the only sign of winter around town.

Brrr, it's chilly today all of a sudden. Here are some more signs winter is coming: He arrives at the Village of Rochester Hills next Friday, Nov. 18. That's when the Village, with help from city leaders and community members, will flip the switch on the lights and kick off the holiday shopping. Earlier this week, staff of English Gardens Christmas Shop decorated the gazebo for the season. We've all seen the lights being installed in downtown Rochester. They're also lighting up Rochester Road on the outside of Bordine Nursery. And they're being installed in yards across town: on the Rochester Patch Facebook page we heard from a few readers who took advantage of the sunny days last weekend to hang their outdoor lights.
