Photo of the Day: Upside Down in Rochester Hills

Have you been to the carnival yet? It's here through Sunday.

Rochester Patch reader Kim Austin submitted this photograph of the new ferris wheel that is a main attraction of the temporary carnival ongoing through Sunday at the corner of Rochester and Avon roads. It's the 35th year for the spring carnival, which features rides, games, prizes and food. It's sponsored by the Rochester Hills Lions Club as one of the club's main fundraisers for the Leader Dogs for the Blind. Carnival hours are Thursday 4-10 p.m.; Friday 4-11 p.m.; Saturday noon-11 p.m. and Sunday 1-10 p.m. All-day arm bands are $20 per person. Planning to go to the carnival? A Spinning Ferris Wheel at Night is Rochester's Delight

Rochester Road carnival continues through Sunday.

If you want to add color and life to a vast, gray parking lot, build a carnival. That's what the Rochester Hills Lions Club has done at the corner of Avon and Rochester roads. The carnival opened Friday and is ongoing this week at one of the city's busiest intersections. It is a tradition that dates back more than 30 years; it's one of the club's biggest fundraisers, with proceeds benefiting Leader Dogs for the Blind and other local organizations. Hours are 4-11 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday. Saturday hours are 11 a.m. -11 p.m.; Sunday is closing day for the carnival, which is open noon-11 p.m. An all-day pass is $20; a discounted pass can be purchased at nearby Kmart for $15.
