The Avon Players Theatre present The Full Monty weekends through June 1.

The Avon Players Theatre presents the hilarious and heartwarming musical comedy, The Full Monty, opening on May 17 and continuing on weekends through June 1.  The Full Monty, a musical based on the film of the same name, is the story of two best friends, Jerry Lukowski (played by Joshua Monterosso) and Dave Bukatinsky (played by Tym Falk), in Buffalo, New York, who have recently lost their jobs when the steel mill where they worked is shut down. Feeling desperate and after observing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during their "Girls' Night Out," the guys come up with a bold way to make some quick cash: put on their own act! The Bedroom is the Setting for Avon Players Comedy Opening This Weekend

It's an adults-only show called "Move Over, Mrs. Markham" and it's on stage starting Friday night at the Rochester theater.

The comedy Move Over, Mrs. Markham opens tonight at the Avon Players Theatre in Rochester. The John Chapman and Ray Cooney play tells the chaotic story of three couples all meeting in clandestine fashion in the apartment of straight-laced publisher Philip Markham. The setting for all the confusion? A round bed inside Markham's apartment.  The show is recommended for adults only. It is directed by Mike Olsem and stars Mary Arvidson, Lesa Bydalek, Paul Held, Kim Monterosso, Joe Munem, Tracy Murray, Joy Oetjens, Emily Polet and Jeff Stillman. This Christmas Musical Will Get Rochester In the Holiday Spirit

'Forever Christmas' opens on the Avon Players stage this weekend. Here's a sneak preview.

A selection of holiday tunes will be performed on stage during 'Forever Christmas,' which opens this weekend at the Avon Players Theatre on Washington Road in Rochester Hills. Tickets are still available for the opening performance at 8 p.m. Friday night. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. through Dec. 15 at the community theatre; tickets cost $16-$18. Check out this video preview of the show. Audition Now for Part in Rochester Christmas Play

Avon Players is looking for singers and character actors for a production this December.

As they get ready for the final weekend of the play that opened their 2012-13 season, Avon Players is looking for local talent for a holiday production. Bye Bye Birdie closes this weekend with performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  In the meantime, the Rochester theater is getting ready for auditions for Forever Christmas, which will run Nov. 30-Dec. 15.  "Adult singers of all voice types should have a strong ability to harmonize and sight-reading ability is a plus," according to an announcement about the auditions. "Actors should be able to handle sketch-type comedy and play multiple characters." Auditions will be held at the theater at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and 7 p.m. Oct. 1. The community theater's first show of the new season is this weekend.

It's Time to Rock! Avon Players Present School House Rock Live Jr.! This Weekend

The show will take place at the Avon Players Theatre July 13 and 14.

41 students are busy putting together the Avon Players' production of School House Rock Live Jr.!, which will debut July 13 and 14 on the stage of the Avon Players Theatre. The show is centered about Tom (played by Michael Berry), a teacher who is nervous for his first day of school. As he (and all the little voices in his head) prepare for school, the theater is filled with nostalgic Schoolhouse Rock songs. In the weeks leading up to the performance, the students have completed workshops to prepare for their roles of acting, singing in the chorus and dancing in the production.
