Details of All-Day Kindergarten Plan on School Board Agenda Tonight
Rochester will likely change from half-day to full-day kindergarten beginning this fall.
All-day, everyday kindergarten will cost Rochester Community Schools $2.6 million to implement next year. But if state lawmakers make this type of kindergarten mandatory for school districts to receive full school funding in the near future, not having it could cost the district about $3.7 million a year. Those funding details are part of a comprehensive report that will be presented at Monday night's Board of Education meeting. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Harrison Room of the School Administration Building; it is open to the public. My son will be staying at Red Barn Preschool for an 'extra' year in their Pre-K/young 5's program. 3 days a week, 9a-2p. I think this will be a perfect transition for full day kindergarten while still allowing me some time home with my young one. My older two were very well prepared for kindergarten.
