Take a Sneak Peek at Adams Theatre's 'Little Shop of Horrors'

It's on stage next weekend at the high school.

Adams High School Theatre is hard at work rehearsing for the upcoming spring musical Little Shop of Horrors, which will be performed on stage next weekend.  Check out this video sneak preview of the show. Tickets for the 7 p.m. shows March 21, 22 and 23 are $10 for students and $12 for adults. They can be purchased online at www.showtix4u.com, in the Adams main office and at the door one hour before each performance.

60 Minutes, 18 Hungry Boys and an Ice Cream Shop that Says 'Keep Eating'

Cold Stone Creamery in Rochester Hills invites Adams wrestling team in for a feast.

It's become an annual tradition for the Adams High School wrestling team: after four months of practices, meets and constant weight-watching, the team was treated to all-they-can-eat ice cream this week at Cold Stone Creamery. Owner Todd Frerichs invited the boys to spend one hour in his Rochester Hills shop to eat as many ice cream creations as they could.  "Todd and his staff served up ice cream with extreme speed and efficiency as the line never seemed to end," wrote Chuck Biebelhausen, a wrestling parent. "Wrestler after wrestler ordered ice cream, ate ice cream and got back in line again to start it all over again. "The wrestlers ate with the same hearty appetite that helped them achieve a successful season." Most of the boys were …

Adams High School Group Receives Grant for Spring Music Residency

The project is one of six to receive funding from Oakland County Arts, Culture & Film grants.

An Adams High School group has been awarded a grant from Oakland County to host a residency project at the school in the spring. Adams Parents for Instrumental Music is one of six area organizations to share more than $13,000 in grants recently awarded by the Oakland County Arts, Culture & Film through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.   The $1,250 grant will help Adams host a residency project with Pro Musica of Detroit, featuring classical guitarist Dimitris Kotronakis, in this spring.  The grants are designed to fund "high quality, locally developed projects that increase public access to art and culture," according to a news release.  Other Oakland County organizations to receive the awards are:

The Michigan High School Athletic Association is hosting its second annual Battle of the Fans.

There's no doubt that high school students know how to support their sports teams. But, does Rochester have the best fan section around?  Now you've got a chance to prove it. The Michigan High School Athletic Association is hosting its second annual Battle of the Fans and is ready to highlight the best student cheering sections across Michigan. To enter, follow these rules: The MHSAA Student Advisory Council will choose five finalists. MHSAA officials will visit each school on a Friday game night to see the fan section in person. The winner will be announced on Feb. 22 and will be invited to the Class B Boys Basketball Semifinals at the Breslin Center on March 22 to be recognized and receive a championship banner. Rochester Adams Marching Band Needs Your Votes

My TV20 contest offers local marching bands a chance to win $1,000 and a promotional announcement.

The Rochester Adams Highlander Marching Band needs you! The Adams Highlander Marching Band is part of the My TV 20 “Battle of the Bands” Bracket Challenge. People can vote online for the Adams High School Highlander Marching Band. The winning band will recieve $1,000 for its program and will be featured within a TV20 promotional announcement. My TV20 said on its website that it’s looking for metro Detroit’s most talented high school marching band. The brackets are set and now it’s time to vote. The school with the most fan votes each week will move through the bracket. Adams is currently up against Waterford Kettering. Hitting a High Note: Talent Showcase to Feature Past and Present Adams Alums

The Rochester Community Schools Summer Music Theatre Scholarship Fundraiser takes place July 13 at 7 p.m.

Broadway is coming to Rochester Friday night, as the talent of the past, present and future comes together under one roof for an unforgettable evening. The annual Rochester Community Schools Summer Music Theatre Scholarship Fundraiser, also known as SMT, gives local talent a chance to live out their dreams - in more ways than one. Promoting Arts in the Rochester community, 106 current students of Adams High School will have the opportunity to perform in what is destined to be a sold-out show. All funds generated will be used to provide scholarships for students to attend the renowned Summer Music Theatre program, which is celebrating its 40th year. But, that's not all. The ceremony was held Wednesday night at Ultimate Soccer in Pontiac.

Students, teachers, parents, family, and friends gathered on Wednesday evening at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac to honor the Adams High School Class of 2012 at the school's annual commencement ceremony.
