Man Arrested in Rochester Hills Home Invasion

Washington Township man hospitalized, jailed after break-in.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded early Tuesday to the 3100 block of Quail Ridge on a report of a home invasion, according to an incident report. The 87-year-old homeowner told deputies a man had thrown a large landscape rock through the home's window to enter the house and her husband had gone downstairs with his gun to investigate. The woman's husband told deputies he had found the man inside the home and that he appeared disoriented and was asking for help, the report indicated. When deputies arrived, they found a smashed window and blood inside the house, but the man had left the scene, the report indicated. 3 Break-Ins Reported in Rochester Hills

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies respond to 3 alarms in Rochester Hills, find smashed windows.

Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies responded late May 9 to an alarm at the 2100 block of Crooks Road, according to an incident report.  According to the report, deputies also responded to alarms at the 1900 block of Rochester Industrial and the 2000 block of John R. and found windows at all three locations had been smashed out to gain entry inside. Deputies dispatched a police dog to try to track the responsible person, bu the track ended where the suspect appeared to have gotten into a vehicle, the report indicated.  According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the investigation is ongoing.

Oakland County and Detroit Public Safety Agencies Link Up

Radio system will allow the agencies to communicate directly with each other and coordinate responses to cross-border emergencies.

Officials are hoping to boost safety for Oakland County and Detroit residents with an addition to the county's OakWIN interoperable radio system. The system will now use data from Detroit to make a communication link between all Oakland County and Detroit police, fire and EMS radios, according to a recent Oakland County press release. Using OakWIN, the public safety agencies will be able to communicate directly with each other and coordinate responses to cross-border emergencies. OakWIN is supported by the regional public safety data-sharing consortium CLEMIS - the Courts Law Enforcement Management Information System. “This is a boost to the safety of Oakland County and Detroit residents,” Oakland County Executive L. Man Arrested After Fleeing Deputies, Striking 2 Patrol Cars

A call on a domestic assault Saturday led Oakland County Sheriff's deputies on a short, low-speed police chase that damaged two Sheriff's vehicles and led to the arrest of a 59-year-old Rochester Hills man, according to an incident report. Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded Saturday morning to the 2400 block of Gerald Street in Rochester Hills on a report of a domestic assault, the report indicated. The man had reportedly been drinking, is on several medications and threatened family members with a gun, the report indicated. Mark's Coney Island Ravaged by Tuesday Afternoon Fire

Fire officials investigating cause of blaze; Auburn and Adams roads are now re-opened.

Rochester Fire Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that ravaged the Mark's Coney Island the corner of Auburn and Adams Road Tuesday afternoon. Nobody was injured, but significant damaged occured, according to Rochester Hills Fire Chief Ron Crowell. He said the building is "probably a complete loss". The department received the call of "arching and explosions" at the scene at about 10:55 a.m. Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming out of the northeast corner of the building. Firfighters quickly knocked out the fire and aggressively attacked the interior, Crowell said. The incident backed up traffic as Auburn and Adams Roads were closed for about an hour. Both are now re-opened and traffic is flowing normally.

Purse Reported Stolen in Rochester

St. Clair Shores woman reports purse theft in Rochester and more crime from around Rochester.

The following information was provided by Rochester Police. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. Rochester Police responded May 2 to the 1000 block of Ironwood Drive for a report of a theft from a vehicle, according to a police report. The vehicle owner, a 51-year-old St. Clair Shores resident, told police someone had taken her purse from her vehicle, the report indicated. The woman described a possible suspect to police, but a suspect has not yet been identified, the report indicated. Rochester Police responded April 28 to a home at the 400 block of North Castell on a report of a Rochester resident hearing a basement window break, according to an incident report. The resident told police they had heard the basement window break about 15 …

Crews Extinguish Tractor Fire in Rochester Hills

8 tractors involved in Sunday fire.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched Sunday to the 90 block of W. Auburn Road in Rochester Hills for a report of a fire behind a building, according to an incident report. According to the report, deputies discovered eight tractors on fire inside a fenced area behind the business, which was closed. Rochester Hills fire crews put out the fire and a Sheriff's fire investigator was called to the scene. The fire remains under investigation and no injuries were reported.

Downed Pole Leaves 420 Without Power in Oakland Township, Rochester Hills

Several residents in the Rochester Hills and Oakland Township area are without power Tuesday afternoon after a semi-truck struck a pole at the intersection of Adams and Silverbell roads in Oakland Township, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Oakland Township Substation. About 420 customers are without power, according to Randi Berris, a spokesperson for DTE Energy. She said the incident occurred about 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Berris estimates about 300 of the 420 customers should have power restored between 6-6:30 p.m. while it might take longer to restore power for the remaining customers. This story has been updated to correct the location of the incident to Oakland Township.
