Viewfinder: Stoney Students Take Time Out to Help Feed the Hungry

They work toward goal of packaging 11,700 meals in one afternoon.

How do you feed the world? One scoop of dried vegetables at a time.

About 80 members of the Key Club formed an assembly line on Thursday afternoon at the school to package bags of dried food for the hungry in Guatemala and Haiti. It was part of Kids Against Hunger, a nationwide coalition that helps fight hunger. The Rochester Kiwanis Club and members of the Shelby-Utica Kiwanis Club helped organize the event.

"This type of project is so indicative of this generation of kids," said Stoney Creek Principal Larry Goralski. "They give more than any kids I've ever dealt with. Every kid genuinely seems interested in giving back."
