'Dear Soldier:' Jaycees Will Send Your Thank-You Notes Overseas

Jaycees will have tent at Wednesday's Festival of the Hills.

For the fourth year in a row, the Rochester Area Junior Chamber, also known as the Jaycees, will be holding its "Dear Soldier" community service project at the City of Rochester Hills Festival of the Hills fireworks show on Wednesday at Borden Park, according to Michael Webber, president of the Rochester Area Junior Chamber.

The Junior Chamber will host a tent at this annual family event where community members can stop by and address a patriotic thank-you note to our troops who are fighting overseas. The Junior Chamber will then mail these thank you cards to the troops from our community.

"We are honored to participate in a great family event in our community - the Festival of the Hills - and we look forward to doing our part to thank the men and women who give so much for our freedom,” Webber said. “We should never forget their service, especially during this time when we celebrate our country's independence."

The Junior Chamber will open the tent at Festival of the Hills at 6 p.m. and keep it open until dusk, when the fireworks show begins. There is no charge to participate in this event.
