David Kerr, a junior center and defensive end for Stoney Creek, said the top pick couldn't have gone to a better guy.

"He's a really good guy," Kerr said, noting he had met Fisher informally in weight room sessions and at a camp at Central Michigan University. "He's really humble."

Kerr said he is proud to share a hometown and prep team with Fisher.

"It's cool that someone from my hometown is drafted No. 1 overall," Kerr said. "I'm pretty floored."

Gerry Pitlock of Rochester said he watched Fisher play football and basketball his junior and senior seasons at Stoney Creek and knew he was a special player,

"He was big by high school standards," Pitlock said. "He was always a really good athlete."

Pitlock credited a standout Senior Bowl performance and NFL Combine with raising Fisher's draft stock. As a member of the Mid American Conference, Central Michigan's games often lackthe national exposure of the NCAA's major conferences.

"He really stood out," Pitlock said of Fisher's Senior Bowl performance.
