Rochester's Shwan Shadaia Earns Wrestling State Title

Several Rochester area wrestlers place in the state finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Rochester's Shwan Shadaia took top honors this weekend as several area wrestlers competed in the Michigan High School Athletic Association state wrestling finals this weekend at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Shadaia took home the Division 1 189-pound crown with a with a 4-3 victory over Clarkston's Chris Calvano to complete the season with the state title and a record of 54-1.

Also placing for Rochester Hills were  Dean Vettese who took third place at 160 pounds, Kaelan Richards who earned third place at 140 pounds, Justin Kim who took fourth at 112, Shane Shadaia who took seventh at 171 pounds and Josh Wood who took eighth at 125 pounds.

Kyle Noonan took fifth place at 112 pounds for Stoney Creek and Stephen Biebelhausen placed fourth at 119 pounds to Rochester Adams.
