Rochester Represented in Tonight's National Championship Football Game

Branch Kampe of Rochester Hills is a freshman linebacker for the LSU Tigers.

When the Louisiana State University Tigers battle the Alabama Crimson Tide for college football's national championship tonight, a Rochester Hills player will be on the field.

Branch Kampe, the son of  men's basketball coach Greg Kampe, is a freshman linebacker for LSU. Branch Kampe wears No. 63, and although he hasn't seen any playing time yet this year, a national championship is a national championship — as long as you're part of the team.

“He may not get one play in that game, but he’s got all the bumps and bruises to show he was part of it," Greg Kampe recently told the Oakland Press for its Grizzlies Den blog.
