With district and regional tournaments starting up, Patch brings you the latest from the basketball courts and the hockey rinks.

Playoff action heats up this week with the start of the girls basketball district tournament and the hockey regional tourney.

Meanwhile, Eisenhower got off to a blazing start in the district tournament with a 

10:42 p.m. Royal Oak girls basketball team loses to Bloomfield Hills Andover 48-44 in overtime.

10:23 p.m. There will be a new champion in Division 2 boys hockey as Wyandotte Roosevelt defeats three-time defending state champion Trenton 3-2 in overtime in a pre-regional game.

10:19 p.m. Girls basketball final: Canton 46, Northville 32. Canton will play South Lyon and Plymouth will play Novi on Wednesday.

10:12 p.m. Two more girls basketball finals from MHSAA.com. Dearborn falls to Lincoln Park 43-27. Macomb Township Dakota defeats Port Huron Northern 53-22.

And a hockey final was e-mailed in as Novi Detroit Catholic Central defeated Brighton 3-2 in double overtime.

10:08 p.m. Overtime! Trenton and Wyandotte Roosevelt play on in hockey tied at 2-2 after three periods.

In girls basketball, Dearborn Fordson defeated Allen Park 54-49, according to the MHSAA website.

10 p.m. A final in St. Clair Shores as St. Clair Shores Unified holds off U-D Jesuit 3-1. Stephen Soloway recorded a hat trick for the Lakers in the victory.

9:55 p.m. West Bloomfield hockey team loses 6-2 to Livonia Stevenson at Orchard Lake St. Mary's. Zach Rogow and Andrew Murphy scored for West Bloomfield.

9:52 p.m. A barnburner on the ice. Trenton ties up Wyandotte Roosevelt. Game is 2-2 in the third.

9:24 p.m. Some back-and-forth action on the ice as Wyandotte Roosevelt surges to 2-1 lead over Trenton in second-period play.

In other hockey action, Birmingham Brother Rice defeats Royal Oak 10-0.

9:22 p.m. In boys hockey, Roosevelt and Trenton are tied at 1-1 in the second period.

In other hockey action, St. Clair Shores Unified leads U-D Jesuit 2-1 at the end of the second period.

9:14 p.m. In girls basketball, Macomb L'Anse Creuse North defeats L'Anse Creuse 38-22 in a district matchup, according to MHSAA.com.

9:10 p.m. Eisenhower defeats Sterling Heights 66-47 in girls basketball quarterfinal. The Eagles play Chippewa Valley on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Ford High School.

9:09 p.m. Anchor Bay defeats Port Huron 1-0, according to the MHSAA's website.

9:04 p.m. In boys hockey, Roosevelt and Trenton are scoreless after the first period.

In girls hoops, Fenton rolled to a 61-26 triumph over Brandon in the district quarterfinals.

9 p.m. The Hartland girls basketball team overcame a fourth quarter deficit to beat Walled Lake Northern 38-34.

8:59 p.m. Grosse Pointe North takes the battle of Grosse Pointe, defeating Grosse Pointe South 40-38 in overtime of girls basketball quarterfinal.

In other girls basketball, Monroe defeats Saline 47-44.

And in hockey, St. Clair Shores Unified had a goal waved off and its lead is only 1-0 over U-D Jesuit at the end of the first period.

8:28 p.m. St. Clair Shores Unified hockey team extends its lead to 2-0 over U-D Jesuit at end of first period.

8:22 p.m. A thriller in Grosse Pointe. Grosse Pointe South and Grosse Pointe North are headed to overtime tied at 34-34 in their girls basketball quarterfinal matchup.

8:16 p.m. In girls basketball, Fenton all over Ortonville-Brandon 36-12 at halftime.

8:14 p.m. In hockey, St. Clair Shores Unified leads U-D Jesuit 1-0 with 7:28 left in the first period.

8:06 p.m. In girls basketball, Monroe up 30-28 over Saline at half in girls district. Saline's lone starting senior, Emily Everett wants more games. She has 12 points, all on 3s.

8:04 p.m. In girls basketball, Eisenhower leads Sterling Heights 41-24 at halftime. In the first game, Ford defeated Utica 62-50.

8 p.m. Puck has dropped for pre-regional game between U-D Jesuit and St. Clair Shores Unified at St. Clair Shores Civic Arena.

7:56 p.m. The winner of tonight's hockey game between Trenton and Wyandotte Roosevelt will face off Wednesday against Southgate Anderson, which just upset Woodhaven in OT.

7:40 p.m. In girls basketball, Canton leads Northville 30-13 at the half. Kayla Bridges leads Canton with 15 at half, 7-8 from line.

7:37 p.m. In girls basketball, Grosse Pointe South leads Grosse Pointe North 23-20 at halftime.

7:20 p.m. In girls hoops, Canton leads Northville 18-8 after first quarter.

7:19 p.m. In hockey, Saline defeats Temperance-Bedford 4-2.

7:11 p.m. In girls basketball, Plymouth wins the opener against Salem 46 - 38. Alex Roberts leads the way with 14 points, including 9 - 14 from the line. Heidi Schmidt led Salem with 15.

6:32 p.m. Saline takes 3-2 lead over Temperance-Bedford.

6:01 p.m. Saline's hockey team trails Temperance-Bedford 2-1, according to @SalinePatch.
