High School Hoops: Adams Crushes Rival Stoney Creek

Adams pummels Stoney Creek 70-37, giving the Highlanders a four-game win streak near the season's end.

The crowd didn't care that the game was never close. They stayed and showed their nonstop school spirit until the end buzzer on Friday night, as the defeated crosstown rivals  70-37.

Although it wasn’t a close game, fans and players from both schools maintained focus and played (or cheered) to win.

The Hero: The Highlander fan base, particularly the rowdy student section, visually affected players from both teams. At least 150 students packed the Adams student cheering section, half clad in orange shirts opposed to their usual gold and brown.

The Turning Point: There was no turning point. Adams ended the first quarter with a 14-point lead and the first half with a 27-point lead.

“Adams came out with more intensity than we did,” Stoney Creek coach Steve Norgrove said.  “We outplayed them on the first possession, but they beat us on every possession after that.”

The fans continued supporting their teams and the players kept giving it their best efforts, so the atmosphere was still hyped until the final buzzer.
