Rochester Grangers Vintage Base Ball Match

The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm will serve as the home field for another season of vintage baseball featuring the Rochester Grangers Vintage Base Ball Club.  Matches will be held at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm on May 14 against the Wyndotte Stars, May 15 against the Royal Oak Wahoo's, and May 28 against Monitor BBC of Chelsea at Halbach Field in Rochester.  Matches begin at 1:00 p.m. and guests are encouraged to bring their own chair.  Admission is free to the Matches and the Van Hoosen Dairy Barn.

Vintage base ball captures the start of base ball fever in the United States during the Civil War.  Matches are played according to the rules of the early 1860s, which means no gloves and exceptional gentlemanly behavior.  Matches are nine innings, pitchers throw underhanded, and various terminology harkens back to the early days of this national past time.  For additional information on the Grangers and to see a full schedule of matches visit www.rochestergrangers.com.
