Donald Maskill, who has been at West for 14 years, will serve as interim principal at Hugger. Wendy Darga, an intern assistant principal at , will serve as the interim assistant principal at West for the 2012-13 school year.

Maskill's appointment as interim leader of Hugger fills a vacancy left by Debi Fragomeni, who was named Pre-K through 7th Grade Curriculum Director for the district. Fragomeni's replacement was about to be confirmed last month when school administrators were informed that there was a problem: her replacement was related to a teacher at the school, and it violates school district policy to have a family member supervise another family member.

The Hugger school community had pleaded with school district leaders to put a principal in place soon, as school begins in less than three weeks.

Congrats to the BOE on another solid, well thought out decision again. Disrupt multiple schools and reshuffle numerous individuals when moving a single teacher would have solved this issue 2 weeks ago. The HR Director can maybe put her law degree to good work now as the lawsuits start roll in!

Great decision by district admin team. Don is a very caring, ethical, and dedicated person. He will do well with the supportive parent network at Hugger.

I've worked with Don Maskill for the last 10 yrs. and he is definitely one of the best. I think that Hugger will be pleased with their new principal:)

Mr. Maskill is awesome. He will be missed at West. And people... All this shuffling will be fine. These administrators are very capable and will do a fantastic job where ever they land. Kids won't even notice. They are extremely resilient to this stuff. It's the parents that can't deal with it and they aren't even the ones going to school. Silly!

Don Maskill is a wonderful choice! West will miss him a lot and Hugger will not want to give him back. Do not understand why this is just an interim decision.
