Tell Us About Your School's Fun Run, Rochester!

Fall is the season for fun runs around town; share your photos and tell us how far the kids ran!

It's a Rochester rite of autumn; the elementary school Fun Run.

And even though nearly every area school has one, each Run has its own unique style:

  • Does your school run around the loop or the field?
  • How do you keep track of your laps?
  • How many laps make a mile?
  • Are there team colors or special shirts?
  • Does your mascot come to cheer you on?
  • Does a DJ play your favorite songs?

Share your photos here and show us how your school does it!

The Delta Kelly Fun Run day was awesome!!! We ran the bus loop to great music spun by Dk's own Ken Reyonalds. Oakland University's athletic department sent us the 'Grizz' and members of their talented dance team to keep us moving too! Each class had about 15 minutes to run/walk, hit the snack and water table and return to class. There, they found a goodie bag filled with shoe laces, a Delta Kelly wrist band and bookmark to celebrate their hard work :) Thank you to : i9 Sports, The Hansons Running Shop, Goldfish Swimming School, Dearborn National and The Doelle Family for all of the donations for the gift bags! We set up a paypal account this year along with collecting checks and we are still a little shy of goal. Hopefully we can hit our number in a few more days!!! GO Cardinals!!!

We just got this Fun Run scoop from Musson: The Musson Elementary PTA’s primary fundraiser is the Fun Run. All students, kindergarten through fifth grade, participated by running or walking laps around a 1/12 mile track in fifteen minute time frame. A total of laps, more than 6,901 laps or 575 miles, were completed. Nearly 75% of the student population made a donation. The money will be used to purchase upgrades for the Library, reading incentives, special events and to fund a variety of enrichment programs. Before the event, students were encouraged to solicit pledges from family members, neighbors and other interested parties. Business sponsors included Meijer, Busch’s, Rainforest Café, Goldfish Swim School, Robot Garage, Werner’s Hallmark, Coldstone Creamery, Sweet Island Yogurt, Cranbrook Science Center, Brilliant Sky, Froggy’s Toy Shop, Emagine Theaters and Rockin’ Cupcakes.
