Rochester Students Recognized for Works of Art
Here's a look at some of the award-winning scholastic art.
More than 80 Rochester and Avondale middle and high school students have been recognized as award-winning artists in the 2012 Southeastern Michigan Region of the Scholastic Art Awards.
Sponsored by the national nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition receives more than 140,000 submissions annually from more than 77,000 students in grades 7– 12. From those submissions, 1,000 winners are selected nationwide.
The Southeastern Michigan Region of The Scholastic Art Awards is sponsored by the College for Creative Studies. This year, two award winners, Khia Aparente and Emma Boonstra of , were selected as two of 10 recipients of the College's Award of Excellence Scholarship. Boonstra and Aparente each received a full tuition scholarship valued at more than $130,000.
