On the Agenda: Board of Education to Approve Teacher Hirings, Discuss Goals

The meeting is at 7 tonight.

The Rochester Community Schools Board of Education meets at 7 tonight. Among agenda items:

  • A change to the board bylaws that adds an  "Academic Spotlight" feature to the start of every meeting. Superintendent Fred Clarke said this segment will allow a student group from each school to present an academic program or accomplishment to board members.
  • The recommendation of Ryan Starr to the principal position at . The position was left vacant when former principal Charlew Rowland III accepted the principal position at Rochester High School.
  • The hiring of 22 new teachers; this would be in addition to the eight teachers hired earlier this summer.
  • Discussion of the district's goals.

The meeting will be held in the Harrison Room of the school administration building. It is open to the public.
