According to Elizabeth Davis, executive director of human resources for the district, there were more than 200 applicants for the position vacated by Denise Bereznoff, who retired this year after 40 years with the district.
Board members were also scheduled on Monday to approve the hiring of Kelley Dessy as principal; however, that hiring has been delayed. Dessy was found to have a familial relationship with a teacher, according to Davis.
The Hugger principal vacancy is the result of former principal Debi Fragomeni being named the district's Pre-K through 7th Grade Curriculum Director earlier this summer.
Also on Monday night, David Harwell was named to the position of 8th Grade through Adult Education Curriculum Director.
