Musson Elementary's Green Team Collects Old Computers, Electronics

Musson Elementary invited the school community to bring in the items to prevent them from being thrown away.

There's no shortage of old computers, cell phones and electronics sitting in the basements of homes across town.

People know they aren't supposed to throw away those things — but they aren't sure what, exactly, to do with them.

Musson Elementary's PTA invited parents and teachers in that school's community to bring in these items last week during a computer and electronics drive at the school. The PTA's Green Team worked with Paragon Green, a Dearborn Heights company that reclaims and refurbishes the equipment.

At the end of the day, they had collected "eight old computer monitors, eight or nine old computers, a couple televisions, lots of cables, old phones, odds and ends and VCRs and several laptops," according to event organizer Kristen Evans.
