'Donut Dolly' Book Signing, Presentation

The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm will be celebrating Veteran’s Day by hosting a book unveiling by Rochester Hills’ resident Joann Puffer Kotcher and her new book Donut Dolly: An American Red Cross Girl’s War in Vietnam on Friday, November 11, 2011 with a presentation by the author starting at 7 p.m.

Kotcher puts you in the Vietnam War face down in the dirt under a sniper attack, inside a helicopter being struck by lightning, at dinner next to a commanding general, and slogging through the mud along a line of foxholes. You see the war through the eyes of one of the first women officially allowed in the combat zone.

Kotcher was once abducted; dodged an ambush in the Delta; and talked with a true war hero in a hospital who had charged a machine gun. She found answers to what war is really like, what a soldier will say to a girl while sitting in a bunker with shells flying overhead, what the young men she met thought about the war, and why a man would risk his life to save another. The answers will surprise you.  Details about the book and author Kotcher can be found at www.donutdolly.vpweb.com
