Clarke's Contract: Superintendent Must Give 60 Days Notice Before Leaving

Superintendent Fred Clarke's contract with Rochester Community Schools outlines the procedure he would take when he decides, officially, to leave his position.

Clarke elsewhere; he has not officially resigned but stated in an email to parents that he was "confident that the Board and my successor will continue to move the district forward."

The contract states that Clarke will be employed from July 1, 2011 until June 30, 2015 and that "the Superintendent may terminate this Agreement during its term by providing the Board at least 60 days advance written notice."

In addition, the contract states that "The District shall be entitled to terminate the Superintendent's employment at any time during the term of this Agreement without further obligation or liability to the Superintendent for just cause."

Any claims arising from, or relating to, the superintendent's employment with the district "will be subject to final and binding arbitration according to the American Arbitration Association's National Rules for the Resolution of Employment Disputes," the contract states.

Board of Education members meet at 7 tonight.
