A Little Rain Didn't Deter the Rochester Heritage Days Festival

The festival goes on even if the weather isn't cooperating fully.

I always look forward to Memorial Day so much more than Labor Day.  I think it is in large part because it heralds the beginning of beautiful summer weather here in Michigan, but there is more to it.

Memorial Day means the Civil War re-enactors occupy the park, Granger baseball is back and much, much more.  This year there were camel rides, llamas to pet, tortoises trying to escape and crafters.  I missed the Lumberjack show, but I'll try to catch it tomorrow.  I did see one gentleman carrying around what I assume was a souvenir from the show, a 1-inch slice of a tree that had been autographed.

If you haven't made the time to get down to the park and stroll around, do yourself a favor and do so.  There is so much to see, and do.  Be sure to stop and ask questions, most everyone is eager to share their knowledge.
