What Should Move Into Capies Candies in Rochester?

Visions for Vacancies: Sign in front of building reads 'for rent.' What would you like to see in its place?

Each weekend, we'll be highlighting a vacant property in the area and solicit suggestions for what should fill the space.

This week we have the Capies Candies location in downtown Rochester.

Downtown Rochester certainly isn't lacking in options for sweet treats, so would you support a similar type of business opening at its location? Or do you have something completely different in mind?

Let us know in the comments below what you think should occupy this space.

No. I think this is on the east side of town. Christina's was west of Main St on Second St.

Carol, Christinas's was originally on the east side of Main St., but then moved to the west side of Main St. This was her second location. I have been to both locations.

I think a coffee shop would do well in this location on Farmer's Market Saturdays but not during the week. It is a nice building and has access to the public lot across the street but but does not see much foot traffic. Sure it is only blocks from Main Street but most people that walk east of Main take 4th Street to the brewery. Perhaps it could be a single home again. It would be an ideal spot to live with access to downtown and the farmer's market.

You know David, you hit on something-a single home (again). It would be cool living right in the town in a house. Birmingham, Royal Oak, Ferndale, Traverse City and many others, even Lexington Mi have some fine examples living in a house in the middle of businesses off the Main St. Nice alternative if it is difficult for a business to succeed due to the location.
