Enchanting Holiday Home Tour Benefits Rochester Hills Library

Tour on Nov. 17 brings visitors through six immaculate homes in the Rochester area.

Even though fall has just arrived, it is not too early to prepare to be swept away into a holiday wonderland.

The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library 2013 Holiday Home Tour has six enchanting homes to be toured this season, from a Greek Revival Farmstead to a home reminiscent of the Eastern Seaboard with cedar shake exterior and Native American and European interior influences to a Gabled Bungalow with English Court Holiday décor.

The event, which benefits the Rochester Hills Public Library (RHPL) programs for children and adults, will be held Sunday, Nov. 17 from noon-5 p.m.  Tickets are available for purchase at the Friends Library Store located on the main level of the Rochester Hills Public Library and at four local retail businesses.

Live musicians will perform for a period of time at each of the homes on the tour, including a harpist, wind instruments, a pianist and violinist.

New to the home tour this year will be a holiday boutique featuring Michigan-made items including holiday décor and gifts. The boutique will be at the Cranberry Lake Farm home tour location.

A preview party will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Rochester Carriage House Bed & Breakfast, offering attendees an opportunity to meet the tour homeowners and discuss the planning and decorating of their homes.

These tickets are available only at the Friends Store in the RHPL for $50.  This ticket also grants entrance to the home tour on Sunday. Home tour tickets will be on sale at the library beginning Oct. 15, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Rochester Hills Public Library is located at 500 Olde Towne Road.

Holiday Tour attendees may bring their own slippers to wear inside the homes or may use the booties provided at each home. Those attending are asked to not bring children under the age of 18 and to use the restroom before leaving home. Restrooms will be available at the library. Attendees are also asked not to bring any food or drinks into the homes and no photography or video is permitted inside the homes.
