Rochester Hills Teen Recognized for Outstanding Achievement

Danielle Ziaja has collected over 50,000 personal care items for her Clean Start project.

Rochester Hills teen Danielle Ziaja was recognized for her outstanding acheivement in forming the Clean Start project at this week's City Council meeting.

Ziaja has collected over 50,000 personal care items to donate to such charities as Rochester Area Neighborhood House and Lighthouse of Oakland County.

"Rochester Hills has a great philanthropic spirit and it's great to recognize it in the next generation," Mayor Bryan Barnett said when presenting the plaque to Ziaja.

Donations still being accepted

Clean Start is in need of personal hygiene items, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoos and conditioners, mouthwash, soap and shower gels. The organization also collects school supplies and cleaning supplies, as well as contact lens and eye care kits and saline nose and eye drops.
