Register to Vote By Tuesday for November Election

The clerk's offices in Rochester and Rochester Hills close at 5 p.m. that day.

Election Day is one month away. Here's what you need to know to get registered to vote in Rochester and Rochester Hills.

Deadline is Tuesday

According to the clerk's offices of both cities, Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 8 election. You have to be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years old and have lived in Rochester or Rochester Hills for at least 30 days. 

You can register in person at any Secretary of State's office or at the clerk's offices in Rochester Hills or Rochester.

  • In Rochester Hills, the clerk's office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located inside the . For questions, call 248-656-4630.
  • In Rochester, the clerk's office is located inside and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions, call 248-651-9061.

Voting absentee

Rochester and Rochester Hills residents may also apply for an absentee ballot at the clerk's office by mail, fax or request an application by phone or email.

You can receive an absentee ballot if:

  • You are unable to vote without assistance.
  • You are 60 or older.
  • You expect to be absent from the city on Election Day.
  • You are in jail, awaiting arraignment or trial.
  • You have been assigned to work as a precinct worker in a precinct other than where you are registered.
  • You are unable to attend the polls because of religious beliefs.
