What a huge win for Oakland University and Rochester! Whether it was Biden or Ryan, it was great to see our community in the spotlight in a positive way. Good work OU! Apparently, the event went very smoothly.

Longest line I have ever been in. What a scene.

Peter, you obviously haven't been to an Obama rally. LOL

I hear - at a Obama rally nowdays you can walk right in and get a front row seat... Bruce you look like you are on Medicare... I encourage you to look into PPACA.. Medicare is faulty at best but with the cuts that are going into place - right now under this administration... you may find it difficult to go to a top notch doctor - if you care about such things as your health.... also once BCBSM become a Mutual Company - you will see rates increase dramatically especially on it sickly - BCBSM has been doing an extensive amount of work to tag its sickest, that today they are regulated to keep under PA350. But once Obamacare officially goes into effect in 2014, we no longer need them... BCBS will increase rates dramatically to force those people into high risk pools and other carriers... hope you are healthy:) But that is your choice... I never understood why people do not educate themselves enough to realize the do most of the damage in their lives themselves... like listening to politician (granted they all got something not right or perfect) that lies an tells them exactly what they want to hear... youre old enough to understand the wisdom behind - too good to be true... You may want to pick up the Detroit News instead of the Free Press once in awhile (the truth lies somewhere in between). God Bless. To The Patch: Um some pictures of the actual rally would have been nice, since that is the title.. not just Obama supporters? Not a great first impression for my first view

Sue, you might want to check out this picture of 30,000 people in Madison Wisconsin last Thursday after the debate. http://mountainsageblog.com/2012/10/05/president-obama-rally-in-madison-yesterday/

Sue, I'm not on Medicare. The fact that rates will increase from BCBS is further evidence that we need to have a single-payer system, like Medicare for everyone and take the burden of healthcare off employers so that can hire more people to actually produce products. Judging by your comment that President Obama doesn't draw HUGE crowds is testament to the fact that you must get all your news from Drudge or Fox Noise. The cuts to Medicare are on the provider side, not cuts to benefits. You probably missed it, but there was just reported one case of Medicare fraud that was almost half a billion dollar fraud that is being prosecuted by the Obama administration. It's hard to argue with someone that has NO facts on their side.

Bruce - I have Blue Care Network, and I actually had my premiums go DOWN by 9% this year (I literally did a double take and rubbed my eyes in disbelief). I can't recall in my lifetime a premium reduction. Only thing I can think of is the ACA mandate that requires 80% be spent on actual healthcare, as opposed to admin costs. Some folks received rebate checks as well. I also enjoyed preventive visits with NO co-pay for me and kids. Didn't mind that either. A lesser known benefit of Obamacare (ACA) - provides monies to law enforcement for Health Care Fraud Prevention and Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) are helping fight Medicare fraud. They've been topping all-time records every year on this crack down. 2011 ALONE saw 4 BILLION in recoveries. So far 2012 is looking to top even that. Those billions go back into Medicare to elongated its solvency.

Erin, thanks for your story confirming that Obamacare is actually changing the health care in this country for the good and not the evil government takeover the crazies on the right try to portray it as.

Balanced Budgets since WW2, Republicans ( 0 ) Democrats ( 5 ) Increased government size and spending annually, Reagan 6.8% , Bush 5.4% Bush jr 7.7% , total = 137.6% Clinton 3.5%. and Obama 1.4% total = 39.2% Debt to GDP increases by president, Reagan & Bush 30% to 65%, Bush jr 55% to 84% total = 64% Clinton 65% to 55% Obama 84% to 100% total = 6% Deficit increases, Bush 2001, $237 billion surplus to 2009 $1.3 trillion dollar deficit = $1.537 increase Obama 2009 , $1.3 trillion deficit, to 2013 $1 trillion deficit = $300 billion decrease Republicans are clearly fiscal Buffoons and are ruining our nation.
