'When Will the Bridge Open?' Here's that Answer and a Few More

We're talking about the Livernois Bridge in Rochester Hills (and Crooks Road and Main Street, too).

When Rochester Hill Mayor Bryan Barnett met with some Boy Scouts on Monday evening the first question they had was, "When will the bridge be opening?"

When telling this story at Monday night's city council meeting Barnett laughed and said, "They don't even drive yet and they're asking so you know it's a major concern for our community."

According to Barnett the end date for both the Livernois bridge and Crooks Road construction is Friday, Nov. 2.

Barnett said both projects are on schedule and under budget.

"It's all good news," Barnett said, "I can't wait to turn the calendar to November."

Other openings

  • As of Friday, Oct. 5 all the bridges on the trail network were opened.
  • Barnett also reported as an update to the community that the downtown Rochester Main Street Makeover project is scheduled to finish on Nov. 23.

"It's getting to the end of these updates and I couldn't be more pleased," Barnett said.

C'mon November!

Wow! A government project that is under budget, below cost, and on time! Hats off to Mayor Barnett and team for pulling ahead the funding and successfully completing this project. Now, about the fact that my street is still a dirt road... :-)

Hopefully this will help the traffic at Dequindre and Avon. Another bridge/intersection that needs reworking! Anyone know if it's on a list somewhere and, if so, it's priority?

Kudos for the improvements. And I will echo Mr Duncanson's comment about the dirt road. ..... Our road is also *still* gravel and costs more for the city to maintain than if it were paved. About time for some changes here as we'll

WIll the Crooks Road construction open for North-South through traffic before the construction is finished? South of Hamlin is already open and it looks like Crooks Road north of Hamlin is about ready to use. WIht both Livernois and Crooks closed, the rush hour traffic on Adams is terrible.

I agree with Bob! Hamlin used to be a great go-to to avoid Avon, but the Crooks closure is making Hamlin such a headache... Nov 2nd is very much anticipated.

The driving nightmare has an end........

has the city thought about putting a temporary light on Avon and Larchwood?

Let's just hope some of the local businesses on the other side (south) of the all bridge construction can remain open. No one thought to much about them when they closed 3 main North South roads.....So much for the much toted "Ribbon Cuttings" more like "Door Closings"
