Auburn Hills' DPS Open House

The City of Auburn Hills’ Department of Public Service will hold its annual open house on Tuesday, May 15, 9 am–3 pm at the DPS facility on 1500 Brown Road in Auburn Hills. This is the eighth annual open house event geared to families and children. This year, the DPS will offer free hotdogs from 12:30–3 pm, while supplies last.

Activities involve the following categories:

  • Storm Water Management –Learn where storm water
    goes and how it reaches and impacts local rivers and lakes
  • Water – Learn where drinking water is obtained
    and how it is delivered to homes through the underground water system. Attendees will also see the inside of a fire hydrant and learn how many miles of pipe are underground
  • Sewer –Where does water go once it’s down the
    sink or toilet? How many miles of sewer does the City of Auburn Hills have to clean and maintain and how is this accomplished?
  • Roads –Learn about sign making, paving streets,
    maintaining sidewalks and snow removal
  • Fleet – Students will learn how many pieces of equipment, from lawn mowers to large loaders, are owned and maintained by the City
  • Parks & Grounds – Learn how trees, turf and sports fields are maintained; see an assortment of equipment
  • Facilities – Discover how many buildings in the City need to be maintained, from park shelters to city hall
