Teen Pulls Drowning Woman From Paint Creek

Rochester Hills boy was sitting near bridge when he heard a splash; he pulled the woman from the water and his friend called 911.

A Rochester Hills teen-ager pulled a woman from Paint Creek late Monday afternoon after she fell into the water from the Gallagher Road bridge in Oakland Township, according to an Oakland County Sheriff's Office report.

In his statement, the 17-year-old said he was sitting on the north side of the bridge with his friend when he heard a splash. When he went to check on the noise, he noticed the 44-year-old woman struggling in the water, according to the report.

He went down to the creek and "into the water to rescue (the woman) from possibly drowning," according to the report. After he helped the woman up the side of the creek, he told his friend to call 911.

In an interview with the deputy, the woman said she was "sitting on the edge of the bridge and fell in" to the creek roughly 10 feet below. During the interview, the deputy observed "a strong order of alcohol" on the woman's breath, according to the report.

The woman, who may have been suicidal, was transferred to Crittenton Hospital Medical Center by the , according to the report.
