Teacher Faces Life in Prison for Sex with Seventh Grader

An eighth-grade science teacher will be arraigned in a Macomb County later this week on charges related to an ongoing sexual relationship with a 13-year-old and sexually explicit cell phone photos.

A teacher accused of having a series of sexual encounters with a 13-year-old seventh grade girl in a closet outside his classroom and in a rented house in Armada will be arraigned in a Macomb County court later this week.

Robert Yaek, 25, an eighth-grade science teacher in the Armada Area Schools, has resigned, The Detroit Free Press reports, citing a news release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. The alleged encounters occurred between February and May this year.

“Parents entrust their children to the care of teachers. We place our children’s lives in their hands every day. This man’s actions are an outrageous breach of that sacred trust. He must account for that breach under the law,” Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said in the release.
