Suspect Sought in Shooting, Attempted Armed Robbery in Rochester Hills

Man, 61, hospitalized after being shot in hand in attempted robbery.

Oakland County Sheriff's officials are seeking a suspect in an attempted armed robbery left a Rochester Hills man hospitalized with a bullet wound on his hand. 

According to the department, deputies were dispatched to the 1500 block of Scenic Hollow for a report of a shooting. Sheriff's officials report a 61-year-old man at the residence had pulled into his garage when another man ran into the garage attempted to rob him. When the man fled toward his house, the assailant shot at him twice, striking the man once in the hand.

The man was able to get inside his house and dial 9-1-1, the department reported.

Deputies searched the area with a dog, but it appeared the assailant had entered a vehicle to flee the scene, the department indicated. The man was taken to McLaren Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a  5-foot-9 black man weighing between 220-250 pounds and last seen wearing a grey-colored ski mask with a pattern with just the eyes showing and an olive-colored jacket going just past the man's waist. The man reportedly had a blue steel revolver.
