Sentencing Delayed in Burglary Cases

The scheduled sentencing for two men convicted of burglarizing homes in multiple communities, including Rochester Hills, won't happen until next week in Oakland County Circuit Court.

Records show that Andrew Ryan Willey and Christopher Drinkhorn, convicted in October on two counts of home invasion, each will now face sentencing Dec. 4 on three separate cases, per a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Willey, 27, and Drinkhorn, 21, pleaded guilty as charged to counts of home invasion - second degree, and being habitual offenders during pre-trial hearings  in early October.

Officers arrested both men on Sept. 13 shortly after a burglary in the 1400 block of Lenox Street in Bloomfield Township, according to Bloomfield Township Police Department reports. Officers responded to a call about two men seen running down the sidewalk of Lenox and into a green SUV parked near the Adams Road intersection at about midnight. At about the same time, they received an alert about a home security system activated on Lenox.

The vehicle was gone when officers arrived, however, an Auburn Hills officer who was listening to the radio traffic located it nearby and arrested the two occupants without incident. Investigators found evidence of recent thefts in the vehicle, and determined the men were linked to home invasions in Auburn Hills and Rochester Hills, reports said.

Each faced sentencing in the Bloomfield Township cases on Oct. 30, but that hearing was rescheduled to Tuesday while prosecutors added additional charges from other communities.

Willey, of Auburn Hills, and Drinkhorn, of Rochester Hills, were both charged on Nov. 5 with an additional count of home invasion-second degree for a crime that occurred on Sept. 5 in Rochester Hills. They waived their right to preliminary hearings and pleaded guilty as charged on Nov. 13, Oakland County Circuit Court records show.

Prosecutors also charged Drinkhorn with one count of home invasion-second degree for an incident in Auburn Hills on Sept. 4. He also waived his right to a preliminary exam and is scheduled to appear in circuit court Thursday.

Attorneys for both men previously declined comment to Patch until the case is resolved.
