Rochester Hills Motorcycle Driver, 30, Critically Injured in Crash

He was driving on Walton in Pontiac when a car turned in front of him, police say.

A 30-year-old Rochester Hills man was critically injured Wednesday after he was thrown from his motorcycle during a vehicle collision.

According to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the man was driving his 2008 Harley-Davidson east on Walton Boulevard near Baldwin Road in Pontiac when a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 55-year-old Pontiac woman turned into a grocery store parking lot in front of him.

The man was thrown from the bike; he lost his helmet before landing on the sidewalk, the report stated. He was transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac and then transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where he was listed in critical condition on Thursday, according to the report.

The driver of the Malibu was not injured. After hitting the motorcycle driver, her car struck a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 47-year-old Auburn Hills woman. That woman was not injured, either.

The accident remains under investigation; alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
